The Armenian National Committee of America, the American Hellenic Institute and the American Kurdish Information Network addressed the US President George Bush a letter stating the protest against providing additional economic and military aid to Turkey by Washington. The letter is a response to the appeal of nine Jewish American organizations to increase the volume of aid provided to Turkey. The Armenian-Greek-Kurdish letter includes a point condemning the position of the Jewish organizations that ignore turkey’s genocidal past. “This appears to represent a retreat from the Jewish American community’s proud tradition of standing up for human rights, universal values, and the cause of international justice”, is stated in the document. “In turning a blind eye to Turkey’s past and ongoing human rights abuses, these organizations are out of step with Jewish American community’s proud tradition of moral leadership, and, sadly, in sharp contrast to the warm relations that have always characterized the Jewish community’s relations at the grassroots level with Greeks, Armenians and other minorities,” stated Aram Hamparian, Executive Director of the ANCA.
