Armenia faces two global problems – corruption and monopolization

Armenia faces two global problems – corruption and monopolization, former CBA President Bagrat Asatryan stated.

“Prices in Armenia are fixed by monopolists rather than by the market,” he told a news conference on December 10. “While prices are dropping across the globe, the prices in Armenia are going up,” he said.

Mr. Asatryan expressed his discontent about the lack of market economy fundamentals in Armenia. “Unless the political system is altered the current situation in Armenia will persist, with monopolists preventing development of small & medium business in the country.”
