EUROPEAN UNION TO ASSIST ARMENIA IN ACCIDENT PREVENTION

In 2002 the «TACIS» program on increase of Armenian atomic power plant safety is planned to be realized. The European Union has allotted 10 million euros for that. As «Arminfo» agency reports, this year it is also planned to begin the realization of a 4 million-euro program on reconstruction and building of new hydroplants in Armenia. The program has been already introduced for the EU confirmation. The Armenia- EU cooperation within the framework of INOGATE program stipulating the export of Caspian region energy carriers continues. Particularly, a 3 million-euro program for reconstruction of Armenian gas infrastructure has been developed. In 2002 «Investments in gas infrastructure of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan» regional program realization will begin. Talks on reconstruction of compressor plant of underground gas storage in Abovian town are carried within the INOGATE program framework. $12-18 mln investments will be needed to realize the project.
