BAKU TRUSTS CHAIRMAN OF CE MINISTER COMMITTEE MORE THAN CE SECRETARY GENERAL

In the early spring the visit to South Caucasus of chairman of the European council ministers committee Antanas Valionis is expected. Many hopes are pinned on his visit to Baku. Baku media reports that for Azerbaijani leadership, the committee of ministers, in contrast to the PACE, is a «more flexible and more opportune company to resolve Azerbaijan-European council disagreements». In this respect Azerbaijani authorities hope that the spring trip to the South Caucasian countries of new chairman Antanas Valionis will make for the establishment of more constructive official Baku-the CE dialog concerning the situation of human rights in Azerbaijan. At the same time Baku commentators do not express optimistic prognosis regarding the results of talks of the EC Secretary General Walter Schwimmer and state leadership that will take place in early April. As it is known, the PACE winter session resulted in the resolution stating the claim to release all the Azerbaijani political prisoners due to Schwimmers principles.
