“Best Sports Yard,” “Best Sports Urban Community” and “Best Sports Rural Community” awards are given the 6th year by the decision of RA President. According to Armenian minister of sport and youth affairs Armen Grigoryan , every year the number of people participating in mass sports increase.
“Last year the sports festival was attended by 3000 people, while this year 10000 people participated in the events. It means our people have attach great importance to a healthy lifestyle, “Armen Grigoryan said.
The yard at Arshakunyats street 48/2 (Yerevan, Shengavit community) was recognized “The Best Sports Yard” and awarded 1.5 million drams.
The city of Abovyan (Kotayk) won in the “Best Urban Sports Community” category and received AMD 1.5 million.
Aragats Village (Aragatsotn region) was recognized the “Best Rural Sports Community” and received 1 million drams.
36 cities of Armenia and the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh Stepanakert took part in the sports festival of 2009. Kapan, Echmiadzin and Ijevan became the best cities.
