US President George W. Bush has signed a decree to waive Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act. This is the last document necessary to waive the ban preventing the United States from rendering aid to Azerbaijan. Heydar Aliyev called the repeal of sanctions “an event having political significance.” Let us remind that Section 907 waiver will let Azerbaijan receive additional support totaling ten million US dollars. The press release spread by US Embassy in Baku says that official Washington hopes that the Section waiver “will help stabilize the situation in the region including Karabakh problem settlement.”
