The rise in prices for local agricultural products when joining the World Trade Organization will be completely compensated by the growth of general investment pull of economy. This opinion was stated at the conversation with «Arminfo» agency corespondent by Aleksey Sekarev, the counselor general of Armenian-European consultative center on political and legal issues assisting Armenia in the course of joining that international organization. Sekarev expressed disagreement regarding the possible local agricultural product producers’ losses of the gained foreign market positions. The problem discussed now concerns the establishment of common competitive environment for local producers and importers only. In this context the issue on VAT establishment for agricultural products produced in Armenia as well as admissible state financing of agricultural industry is considered. In Sekarev’s opinion, Armenian’s joining the WTO will result in growth of investment pull of Armenia that will transmit a positive political impulse to the country.
