POPULATION GROWTH OBSERVED IN NKR

Population growth is observed in Nagorno Karbakh Republic. As «Arminfo» agency reports, according to the data of the NKR state statistics department, according to January 1, 2002 information, the republic population is 144300 people, the number increased in comparison with the same period of 2001 by 2800 people. The population growth is observed both in the capital of Nagorno Karabakh and all the regions of the republic.
According to 2002, January 1 data, 56782 people live in Stepanakert. The natality was 1231 people in 2001, the number increase by 18.7% in comparison with 2000. In 2001 the mechanical growth of the population was 1596 people, that is more by 2,6 in comparison with the previous year. In 2001 the number of arriving people was 2453 people that is more by 86% in comparison with 2000.
