The program of military cooperation of Armenia and U.S.A. for 2002 will differ from the ones of the previous years conceptually. A high rank Pentagon representative said this in a conversation with “Arminfo” agency correspondent. In his words the terms of signing the program of Armenian-American cooperation were delayed because of the terrorist acts in U.S.A. At present both sides actively work on developing the program for 2002, which will be signed a bit late – in March this year. Both humanitarian programs financed by Pentagon and practical projects of bilateral military cooperation will be included in it. Meetings of military experts of Armenia and U.S.A. are planned to be held in Yerevan and Washington. In the course of these the details of the cooperation programs will be finally elaborated. The new prospects of Armenian-American military cooperation opened after waiving Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act, which prohibited Washington from rendering military aid to Baku. It is usually considered that the Section indirectly limited Pentagon’s opportunities for developing cooperation with Armenia.
