EUROPEAN COMMISSION TO STUDY TRASECA PROPOSAL TO RESUME BAKU-NAKHICHEVAN-YEREVAN RAILWAY COMMUNICATION

The European Commission will study TRASECA inter-governmental commission proposal on financing technical-economic grounding of the project of resuming Baku-Nakhichevan-Yerevan railway communication. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, representatives of the commission said this after completing their working visit to Tbilisi. The European Commission representatives also reported the question would be decided in the organization headquarters in Brussels. 31 million euros total are expected to be spent on realization of 16 regional programs in the states of the Southern Caucasus before 2002-2003. The European Commission will consider the opportunity of reconstruction of Ayrum-Sadakhlo 12-kilometer long border railway segment and equipment supplies to container terminal in Armenian Gyumri city among those projects.
