GOVERNMENT CAN POSSIBLY GIVE UP IDEA TO SELL POWER DISTRIBUTING NETS

The government will again discuss the question regarding the power distributing nets of Armenia in December. As we have informed, yesterday the second tender for the right to privatize the power distributing nets failed. None of the five companies that passed the first part of the tender has submitted an application to participate in its final part. Spanish «Union Fenoza», American «AES», Swiss «ABB» and French «Electricity de France» officially confirmed their cancellation but Russian RAO «YES» just informed orally that the time to consider the terms of the bargain was not enough. Now two possible variants are discussed. The first one is to extend the term in order to give RAO «YES» enough time to consider the situation. The second variant is to give up the idea to sell the power distributing nets and to announce a tender for the right to exploit them according to trust management principles.
