Today “Union “Constitutional right”, the Armenian National Assembly deputy Hrant Khachatryan has stated his intention to participate in the 2003 presidential elections. At the same time he has stated that he is for the unification and the nomination of one candidature for the elections. As it is known there is a year and a half till the elections. The tendency to start the election campaign, Khachatryan has explained with fear that there might be a situation like the one in 1998 when after Ter-Petrosyan’s resignation there were hardly any candidatures in the political arena and people were confused. Khachatryan is the second political figure to make his claim to nominate for the presidential post. Two months ago acting President Robert Kocharyan stated about his resolution to nominate for the elections.
