VARTAN OSKANYAN: VARIANT OF NKR’S JOINING ARMENIA SHOULD NOT BE EXCLUDED IN THE COURSE OF NEGOTIATION PROCESS

The repeal of Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act does not threaten the security of Armenia or Nagorno-Karabakh in any way. As “Arminfo” agency informs, Armenia’s foreign minister Vartan Oskanyan has stated this in his phone interview to “Liberty” radio station from New York. “In the bill passed by the congressmen is clearly stated that the aid granted by the US to Azerbaijan to struggle against terrorism can not be an impediment to the Nagorno-Karabakh peaceful settlement process, that means that the aid can not be used against Nagorno Karabakh or Armenia”, has stated the foreign minister. Concerning the Nagorno Karabakh conflict outlooks, Oskanyan has noted that none of the variants should be excluded. According to him, one of the variants is the NKR’s joining to Armenia. While speaking about the conflict peaceful settlement, Oskanayan has noted that accusations of terrorism regarding Armenia heard in Azerbaijan have negative result exactly for Azerbaijan as no one in the world considers Nagono Karabakh conflict as something having terrorism aspect. While commenting the recent OSCE Minsk group cochairmen’s visit, Armenia’s foreign minister has noted that they tried to «reanimate» the processes started in Paris with few accent changes. But even this few accent changes, according to the minister, were categorically rejected by Azerbaijan. Instead of them, Baku authority introduced a package of alterations of the agreements reached before, that “do not agree with the Paris principles”.
