PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA ARRIVED IN YEREVAN

Today Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze arrived in Yerevan on an official call. The President of Armenia met the guest in the airport. A short conversation between Robert Kocharian and Eduard Shevardnadze took place there. The negotiations continued in the mansion-house of the Armenian President. Talks with broadened membership will commence in the second half of the day. Signing of a new treaty on friendship, co-operation and mutual security and two other documents regulating the partnership of the countries in the legal sphere will also take place today. The Armenian President will invite a dinner party in honour of the eminent guest. Shevardnadze will lay flowers to the memorial of the victims of the Armenian genocide of 1915 tomorrow morning. Then the Georgian President will visit the National Assembly, where he will hold meetings with the Armenian parliamentarians. The head of Georgia will also meet with student and teaching staffs of the Yerevan State University. The Georgian delegation will visit the National Picture-Gallery of Armenia, where opening of exhibition of Georgian artists’ works will take place. The same day the delegation will leave Armenia.
The Georgian delegation headed by the President includes the ministers of foreign affairs, energy and fuel, transport and communication, finance, economy, industry and trade, justice, agriculture and provisions, state incomes, and also Parliament deputies and leaders of Akhlkalak and Ninotsminda regions which are populated by Armenians. A large group of Georgian businessmen also accompanies Eduard Shevardnadze.
