ARMENIAN POPULATION SECURITY ISSUE TO BE DISCUSSED AT GEORGIAN PRESIDENT VISIT TO ARMENIA

The questions of Armenian population security will be discussed at Georgian President Edward Shevardnadze’s visit to Armenia. This was stated by the Armenian foreign minister Vartan Oskanyan today. He expressed his hope that Armenia would not be involved in the events in Abkhazia in order to defend its fellow countrymen living there as ” the situation is being settled down”. ” Armenia is worried with the fates of its fellow countrymen and we work to make the situation less tense at the diplomatic level”, stated the RA MFA head. It should be reminded that as a result of the battles between Abkhazia’s Army and Georgian northern-Caucasian units, a lot of Armenians have been killed.
