“A propaganda boom, recently raised by Azerbaijan, is an attempt of official Baku to draw away the attention of international community either from perennial inactivity, or the connivance of Azerbaijani authorities, not undertaking decisive actions against terrorist organizations settled here”, – Naira Melkoumian stated. A Minister did not eliminate that official Baku had an intention to use again the detachments of Islamic fighters in struggle against Nagorno-Karabagh.
Naira Melkoumian informed that Karabagh side has documentary verification of Afghan mudjahedins’ participation in war of 1991-1994. By this, the Head of the NKR Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that terrorists, related to Usama bin Ladin, actually stay nowadays at Azerbaijan territory. According to Naira Melkoumian, under the pressure of countries-participants of anti-terrorist coalition in Azerbaijan the terrorist organizations are being closed only now and the arrests has begun. In this connection she, particularly, reminded, that today an information on arresting one of the members of Egyptian terrorist group by the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan, suspected in committing terrorist acts on September 11in the USA was spread.
According to Naira Melkoumian, the statements of Azerbaijani officials about the need to carry out an anti-terrorist operation in Nagorno-Karabagh is another manifestation of anti-Armenian propaganda and violation of the international principle of peaceful settlement of conflicts like the Nagorno-Karabagh conflict. “We consider, that speculation of this kind should be relevantly assessed by mediators in conflict settlement, and international organizations”, – Naira Melkoumian said. She noted that these statements are harmful to the international anti-terrorist coalition. Minister persuaded that Azerbaijan’s actions openly discredit the struggle against the evil, which led to the deaths of several thousands of civilians.
Answering the question, could the USA give a possibility for carrying out similar operations, as confirms the ex-minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Tofik Zulfugarov, Naira Melkoumian stated, that it is quite inadmissible to attach spiritual character to the USA anti-terrorist operations and to other countries.
The Head of NKR Diplomatic Office expressed the opinion, that the USA does not need such a support or the discharge to its actions. “The attempts to attach spiritual character to the present events could turn around against Azerbaijan by itself”, – the Minister underlined. According to her, such a policy must be condemned not only by Islamic countries, but by international community as well.
