UKRAINIAN FOREIGN MINISTER’S VISIT TO ARMENIA TO RELIEVE THE OUTLINED TENSION BETWEEN YEREVAN AND KIEV

October 19 Ukrainian Foreign Minister Anatoly Zlenko will arrive in Yerevan on an official call. Signing of a number of intergovernmental documents, particularly on cooperation in the spheres of information, energy and agriculture, is expected in the course of the visit. Let us remind that relations between Armenia and Ukraine became rather ambiguous lately. Head of the Armenian delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Hovhannes Hovhannisian recently stated, “Ukraine carries on anti-Armenian propaganda in a number of international organizations.” In connection with this Yerevan refused support to Kiev when joining the Council of Europe.
At the same time apparent progress regarding the subject of joint reconstruction of production capacity of “Nairit” biggest Armenian industrial enterprise is noteworthy. Attraction of considerable investments from Ukraine to Armenia is expected in this connection. It is also remarkable that on the eve of Ukrainian Foreign Minister’s visit to Yerevan Catholicos of all Armenians Garegin II was rewarded with Ukrainian Order of Yaroslav Mudri “for contribution to development of clerical ties and strengthening relations between the churches.”
