EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON HUMAN RIGHTS 6-TH PROTOCOL RATIFICATION DATE BY ARMENIA DELAYED END OF YEAR

The date of ratification by Armenia the 6-th protocol of the European Convention on Human Rights providing for total cancellation of the death penalty is postponed from July to the end of the current year. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, vice speaker of the Armenian National Assembly of the old convocation Tigran Torosian told journalists today. In his words, such an agreement was achieved with PACE monitoring commission member Irzhi Yaskerni in the course of his visit in Yerevan May 24. As T. Torosian noted, PACE made concessions to Armenia on this issue, so as immediately after the parliamentary election this procedure is quite impossible.
