While commenting the recent statement of the minister of internal affairs about the necessity of starting the “antiterrorist operation” in Nagorno Karabakh the cochairman of the permanent committee of National Assembly of NKR on foreign affairs Vahram Atanesyan has stated “before the known tragic events in the USA, the world was aware of the existence of terrorist groups in Azerbaijan and assistance of this state to the international terrorism. In particular, there are some data on the fact that the explosion of the American Embassy in Kenya was committed via the coordination from Baku by means of satellite communication. Russia’s special services have also sufficient facts on transporting human force and equipment from Pakistan and Afghanistan to Chechnya through the Azerbaijan territory.
Atanesyan estimate the statement of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan as an attempt to deceive the world public opinion, using the existing conjuncture. The international community is quite well aware that there were not and are not terrorists in Nagorno Karabagh, and that a national-liberation struggle for self-determination is going on here. The NKR authorities legibly control the entire territory of the Republic, and the existence of terrorist groups here is excluded even theoretically. At the same time, there is reliable information on the existence of bases for training of terrorists in the NKR Shahoumian region occupied by Azerbaijan”.
