HEAD OF THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH ALEXY II ACCOMPLISHED HIS VISIT

Head of the Russian Orthodox Church Alexy II, who arrived in Yerevan September 22 to participate in the celebrations dedicated to the 1700-th anniversary of adoption of Christianity as the state religion of Armenia, has completed his visit to this county. Yesterday he was present at the solemn ceremony of opening of Saint Grigor Enlightener temple in Yerevan. On completion of sanctification of the temple the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia came out with a welcoming speech. As a token of congregation of the two churches Aleksy II presented a golden icon-lamp to the new temple. The same day the head of the Russian Orthodox Church met with President of Armenia Robert Kocharian.
