Almost all Armenian jails overpopulated, head of a public observer group said.
“20 prisoners are kept in wards meant for 8 people in Nubarashen jail. The situation is a bit better in other prisons,” Arman Danielyan said.
Thanks to last year’s amnesty, the number of prisoners has decreased. However, the figure increased dramatically after that,” he told reporters on July 16.
Danielyan also noted that prison conditions do not meet any of international standards.
