SWISS COURT ACQUITTED OF TURKS REFUTING THE FACT OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

The Swiss court has acquitted of 12 citizens Turkish by birth, who were convicted of attempts to refute the fact of the Armenian genocide. According to the court decision, their actions did not contain corpus delicti to be punished by the law on racial discrimination. The attorney presenting the interests of plaintiffs intends to appeal to the higher judicial echelon. Let us remind that two members of Armenian-Swiss Association were the plaintiffs, and activists of Turkish organizations operating in Switzerland, which had repeatedly made statements refuting the fact of the Armenian genocide in 1915, were the defendants. According to the Criminal Code of the country, any attempt to find justification or extenuating circumstances for a crime against humanity is a crime, too. Punishment in the form of a fine or deprivation of liberty is provided for it.
