In connection with the visit of Russia’s president Vladimir Putin, the fund “Public opinion” has taken a poll among Russians, asking what they know about Armenia. As the poll showed, 67% of Russians know that Yerevan is Armenia’s capital. 5% of Russians’ answers was incorrect; they think that the capital of Armenia is Baku or Tbilisi, rurally Dushanbe, Frunze or Vladikawkaz. 28% admit they do not know the name of Armenia’s capital. 9% of respondents show sympathy while hearing the word “Armenia” (Armenians are not mean people”, “very intelligent people and they are full of suffering”, “positive emotions”, “very good relations’, “friendly country”, “our support in the Caucasus, they are close to us”). 8% remember the earthquake December 7, 1988, 8% also remember the opposition with Azerbaijan” and geographic and climatic characteristic of “the sunny country”. 7% treats Armenia and Armenians unkindly.
