THERE ARE NO ARMENIANS – RESIDENTS OF JAVAKHK – IN ABKHAZIAN ARMY

The Georgian President’s Plenipotentiary in Samtskhe-Javakhetia region Gigla Baramidze categorically refuted the information spread in Georgian press that ethnic Armenian residents of Akhalkalaki region serve in the Abkhazian army. In his words, besides Armenians living in Abkhazia, Georgians, who legally changed their nationality to Abkhazian, and residents of the Northern Caucasus region, as well as Abkhazians themselves serve in Abkhazian army battalion after Baghramian. As reported by CNA agency, Baramidze excluded the possibility that ethnic Armenian residents of Samtskhe-Javakhetia region serve in the battalion after Baghramian. “There are questions in which the population of Samtskhe-Javakhetia does not agree with the country authorities, but there are such people in Tbilisi, too,” – Gigla Baramidze said.
