US Assistant Secretary of State, George Bush’s Advisor Elizabeth Jones stated at press conference in Baku that US wishes to attain to settlement of the Karabakh conflict till the end of the year 2001. In her opinion the agreements achieved in course of the negotiations between the Presidents of the two countries already allow the mediators in the person of USA, France and Russia to propose the parties a formula for settling the Karabakh conflict. “For final assurance in its viability both Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia need only confidence of people,” – US Assistant Secretary of State stressed. Thus Elizabeth Jones confirmed again that the mediators did not intend to refuse from the Parisian principles of settlement, which had once been accepted by Presidents Kocharian and Aliev.
