The Armenian government has reduced the financing of DigiTec Expo 2010 thrice.
As the head of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) Karen Vardanyan told a news conference in Yerevan, the government allocated AMD 10 million to conduct the exhibition. “Financing for the development of high technologies was cut down to AMD 80 million against previously allocated AMD 200 million.
“The number of IT companies currently operating in Armenia is 10 times less the figure envisaged in the 2008-2018 IT Development Concept approved by the government.
Last year, USAID Caps program sponsored the DigiTec Expo presence of 5 newly created organizations; UITE offered assistance to 5 organizations,” the head of UITE noted.
DigiTec Expo 2010 6th annual exhibition of information and telecommunications is due October 29-31 in Yerevan. 60 companies will be presented at the exhibition.
