Smithsonian Magazine’s Annual Museum Day to feature Armenian history and culture

The Armenian Library and Museum of America (ALMA) will be featured in Smithsonian Magazine's Annual Museum Day. This program lets museum-goers enjoy ALMA for free and be introduced to the rich culture and history of Armenia.

ALMA's current exhibits include: Who Are the Armenians?, presenting the epic story of the Armenians’ survival throughout long periods of oppression, destruction and genocide; Fabric of a Culture: Traditional Armenian Costumes, a new textile exhibit featuring more than 20 authentic Armenian costumes from the late 19th century to 1915; The Art of Jack Kevorkian, a provocative exhibit, giving visitors a look at a man perhaps best known for his death with dignity practices; Carved in Stone, showcasing the remarkable architectural models of iconic church designs created by master craftsman Manoog Boyadjian of Chicago, as well as Ongoing Cultural Genocide exhibit examining the ongoing cultural genocide that continues to take place in the aftermath of the annihilation of the Armenian people in Turkey.
