PARLIAMENTARY UNIONS HAVE ISSUED A STATEMENT CONDEMNING THE SO-CALLED “ARMENIAN-TURKISH COMMISSION FOR RECONCILIATION” ACTIVITY

Several parliamentary factions and deputy groups issued a statement, condemning the so-called “Armenian-Turkish commission for reconciliation” activity. The document was undersigned by deputies, representing “Dashnaktsutyun” party, National-democratic Union, “Constitutional right” Union, “Orinats erkir” republican and communist party, and also deputy groups “People’s deputy” and “Agricultural public union”. It is said in the statement, recently made attempts to make Armenian-Turkish relations a discussion topic can actually have negative effects on Armenian and Turkish relation settlement perspectives. The statement authors realize the necessity of the good neighborly relations establishing between two countries and peoples. At the same time they think, refusing the fact of genocide of Armenians in 1915, continuing the blockade of Armenia and also showing one-sided approach to the Karabakh conflict settlement, Ankara, actually, hinders the establishing of relations, admitted in the world community. ” On the assumption of this, we think the artificial initiatives for reconciliation, attempts to suppress historic truth do not assist to the normal relation establishing. Such actions aim to withdraw the question of genocide of Armenians from the agenda and provide Turkey joining the Karabakh settlement process”, is said in document. The statement authors are sure that only the representatives of duly elected authorities, having full responsibility, have right to be engaged in the problems of relations between Armenia and Turkey.
