Reconstruction of Armenian churches Turkey’s obligation, not favor

The chairperson of the committee on religion, diaspora and international integration at the Armenian Public Council, Zhasmen Asryan, said that Armenian public has formed a unanimous opinion on the liturgy in Holy Cross church.

“Holy Etchmiadzin’s decision not to send representatives to participate in the religious ceremony was correct,” she told a press conference on September 24.

Historian Rafik Tadevosyan, in turn, said that reconstructing Armenian churches Turkey doesn’t do a favor but fulfills obligations envisages by the Treaty of Lausanne.
