. Execution of the capital punishment judgement concerning the accused of the case of the terrorist act, which took place on October 27, 1999, can entail suspension of Armenia’s membership in the Council of Europe. The leader of so called «Ago group» created to control the fulfillment of Armenia’s pledge, which it had undertaken before entering the EC, has stated this at a briefing in Yerevan. Leader of the group Ambassador of Italy to the Coucil of Europe Pietro Ercole Ago reminded that abolition of capital punishment is one of the obligations of Armenia. «We understand that the case of the terrorist act in the Parliament is a unique one. We will understand it if the court passes a capital punishment verdict, but we will strongly object to its execution,» – the leader of the group said.
