Azerbaijan continues violating national minorities’ rights while trying to impress the international community as a tolerant country, a history expert Hranush Kharatyan stressed.
At news conference in Yerevan, the expert urged the UN to take a closer view of the issue. “The indifference of UN and other international structures to violation of national minorities’ rights in Azerbaijan suggests the structures indicated are not reluctant to cooperate with the authorities representing the most racist country in the region,” she stressed.
Eduard Polatov, the ssecretary of the coordinating council of authorized representatives of refugees, political, religious and national groups, in turn, noted that a monitoring for observation of national minorities’ rights is being held in Armenia on a constant basis. “However, no actual work in this direction has ever been undertaken in Azerbaijan. Europe is merely turning a blind eye to violation of national minorities’ rights in Azerbaijan” he observed.
