THE SPEAKER OF RF DUMA ARRIVED IN YEREVAN

. The delegation of the Lower Chamber of the Russian Parliament, headed by the President of the Duma Genady Seleznev arrived in Armenia late in the evening for an official visit on President Robert Kocharian’s invitation. During the meetings in Yerevan, which according to Seleznev’s words he has not visited for four years, the potential of development of the relations between the two countries will be discussed. The Speaker of Duma is planning to meet the President, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Prime Minister of Armenia, the representatives of Parliament fractions, commissions and deputy groups, the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. The Russian delegation includes deputies from all fractions and deputy groups of the Lower Chamber. Subscription of any official agreements during the visit is not expected.
Answering the reporters’ questions in Yerevan, Seleznev did not exclude the opportunity of joining Nagorno Karabakh to the Russia-Belarus Union as a part of Armenia. The speaker of the State Duma said: “Of course we will discuss this topic with our Armenian friends”.
In the morning Genady Seleznev has given a lecture at the Slavonic University of Armenia. In the afternoon he visited Echmiadzin where he was received by the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. The prime-minister Andranik Markaryan also accepted the spiker of Duma.
