Nikolay Babajanyan: freedom of movement one of key issues with Baku’s Armenian refugees

Freedom of movement is one of the key issues with Baku’s Armenian refugees at present, the head of Our Home Armenia NGO Nikolay Babajanyan stated.

As he stressed at news conference on 21th anniversary of Armenian pogroms in Baku, “on May 11, 2001, in Strasburg, Armenia signed a law on visa-free entry and exit of refugees. The document was ratified by all the undersigned states except Armenia and Cyprus.”

“Instead of a passport, the refugees are usually provided with a travel document, allowing for their visit to the countries which ratified the law. This, unfortunately, is not true for Armenian refugees: were they to leave for a foreign country, they would be detained and sent back, their documents being inapplicable abroad,” Babajanyan said.
