100 Armenian servicemen are retrained abroad annually

Rector of Yerevan State University (YSU) Aram Simonyan said that YSU has a general agreement on collaboration with the RA Defense Ministry, while the agreement, which was signed on January 24 on YSU students’ internship at the Ministry, refers to a certain direction of cooperation.

The cooperation between YSU and the Ministry was rather intensive in 2010, Simonyan told journalists.

“For example, YSU lecturers visited military units to lecture and organize seminars,” Simonyan said, adding that students also visit military units in Armenia and Artsakh.

He noted that it is important to bring the cooperation to a qualitatively new level. “We are ready to train specialists, as per an instruction of the RA Defense Ministry, if there is need in it, naturally,” said Simonyan.

Head of the International Military Cooperation Department at the RA Defense Ministry Arman Hovhannisyan noted for his part that the Ministry intends to cooperate with France, the U.S., Greece and China starting from 2011.

According to him, Armenia has been cooperating with a range of countries in the educational field for long time.

“Around 100 Armenian servicemen are retrained abroad annually,” said Hovhannisyan.
