CE CALLED ARMENIAN PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION PARTICIPANTS TO MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO OBSERVE EUROPEAN STANDARDS

Due to the parliamentary election planned in Armenia tomorrow Council of Europe (CE) secretary general Walter Schwimmer called the country authorities, members of electoral commissions of all levels, candidates, their proxies and electors to make every effort to provide for European standards in the course of the election. “Election should be free and fair and it is more important than victories and defeats of candidates,” – Schwimmer noted. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, the CE secretary general also called to secure the principle of transparency during the vote counting and immediate promulgation of the election returns. “Non-observance of the Council of Europe standards by a member country is inadmissible,” – Walter Schwimmer pointed out. It should be noted that the parliamentary election in Armenia will also be monitored by PACE observers.
