AMD 5.5bln to be allocated for implementation of employment programs in 2011

Head of Public Employment Service agency Sona Harutyunyan said that unemployment rate reduced in Armenia in 2010, down to 6.9% against 7.1% in 2009.

As of December 31, 2010, the number of those looking for a job totaled 93,500 people, of which 79,500 have been provided with a status of unemployed, Harutyunyan told journalists on February 1.

According to her, all programs envisaged by the agency in 2010 were fulfilled. Specifically, 71.9% growth was recorded in the number of people who were provided with consultation in regional employment centers (206,348 people instead of 120,000 people).

Harutyunyan noted that AMD 5.5bln will be allocated from the RA state budget in 2011 for implementation of programs in the employment field.

According to her, importance will be attached to employment of youth and invalids, solution of employment problems in regions. Besides, close cooperation with international organizations will be continued, concluded Harutyunyan.
