The Armenian government approved a preferential procedure for application of tax, customs and other payments envisaged under the memorandum on understanding, which was signed by the Armenian and Indian government on establishment of the Armenian-Indian Center of Excellence in ICT.
The agreement on creation of the center was signed in June 2009.
During the February 3 governmental sitting, Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan said that the program on creation of a high-technology training center on the territory of Yerevan State University is estimated at $3mln, including $2mln worth equipment and Param computers to be provided by the Indian side and $1mln to be allocated by the Armenian government.
Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attached importance to establishment of the center, which is aimed at raising Armenia’s opportunities in the field.
“Creation of the center is of keen importance for the Armenian-Indian relations. We should fulfill our obligations on creating conditions to accommodate the equipment, the more so as Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is expected to pay an official visit to India this year,” the PM said.
