Deputy Director of the RA National Oncological Center Gagik Bazikyan said that Armenia currently offers the same methods to treat cancer as foreign countries.
The cases, when people diagnosed with cancer are sent abroad, are rather rare, Bazikyan told a press conference.
“Around 80% of problems related to cancer treatment are solved in Armenia,” Bazikyan said, adding that patients are sent abroad only because of lack of relevant medicines or equipment.
He added that, according to international data, 70-80% of people diagnosed with cancer are cured after a surgery or chemotherapy. According to Bazikyan, this figure makes 60-70% in Armenia.
Referring to cooperation with other countries, Bazikyan said that Armenia traditionally cooperates with Russia, as well as France.
