The monument to Ekaterina II dated by end of the 19-th century, being in Yerevan at present will be returned to Moscow soon. The sculpture was brought to Yerevan in 1952 due to the efforts of well-known soviet sculptor Sergey Merkurov, who sent it to the Yerevan State Picture Gallery fearing for the safe keeping of the monument in Moscow. At present the sculpture stands in the gallery yard. As informed by Yerevan city administration on Moscow inquiry, the Armenian party is ready to pass the sculpture to Moscow. Organizational and technical matters on the sculpture delivery to the Russian capital are being pursued now.
