Chairperson of Consumer Rights Protection NGO Lusine Yagubyan said that though Armenia marks the World Consumer Rights Day for many years, consumer rights are violated in Armenia almost in all fields.
Thus, Yagubyan urged Armenian citizens to “put aside tacit indifference” and protect their rights more actively.
The social and economic situation cannot be improved in Armenia without raising citizens’ awareness of their rights and obligations, the expert told a press conference in Yerevan.
Vice Chairman of Consumer Rights Protection NGO Karen Chilingaryan said that, mostly, consumer rights are violated in provision of public services and trade.
World Consumer Rights Day was first observed on March 15, 1983, and has since become an important occasion for mobilizing citizen action. World Consumer Rights Day has its origins in former US President John F. Kennedy's declaration of four basic consumer rights: the right to safety, the right to be informed, the right to choose, the right to be heard.
