Pepsi to compete with Coca-Cola for Armenian market

The management of a new plant for production of soft drinks and natural juices of PepsiCo brand is going to actively compete with Coca-Cola company – the leader in the market.

“Up to date, the competition was in favor of Coca-Cola company due to lack of our production in Armenia. Thus, there is a company, which predominates in the market, with its share making 65%,” business consultant of Jermuk International company Edgar Ghazaryan told journalists on April 1.

Jermuk International company, which is the official representative of PepsiCo brand in Armenia, will put into operation a new plant in May 2011 to produce Pepsi Cola, Mirinda, 7UP, Mountain Dew and Aquafina, as well as natural juices of PepsiCo brand.

According to data of the Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, the share of PEPSI soft drinks makes 10% in the Armenian market.

As for the pricing policy, Ghazaryan said that that currently optimal competitive prices are effective even in terms of import, thus no considerable changes are expected in prices.
