On April 4, Orange Armenia company organized a reception in Yerevan for Zdob si Zdub group, which will represent Moldova at Eurovision 2011.
“We are the chief partner of Eurovision in Armenia for the second year. We consider ourselves to be a music brand. Orange Moldova also assists Eurovision in Moldova,” said Orange Armenia CEO Bruno Duthoit.
According to member of Zdob si Zdub Roman Iagupov, it was not easy for the group to become the country’s representative at Eurovision. “We, as a group, are not representatives of the traditional folklore. That’s why it was difficult for us to win in Moldova. Our song is urban, unclear and for “strange” Moldovans. Moldovans are accustomed to folklore,” said Iagupov.
According to him, the group conceived during rehearsals that it is necessary to include some national elements. “We added elements of the national costume. There will be six of us at the stage. We want to turn the show into a fairy one. We will unite grotesque, folklore and irony in our show, what Eurovision lacks,” concluded Iagupov.
