Khoren Gevor apologizes to referee Manfred Kuchler

Four-time world title challenger Khoren Gevor has personally apologized to referee Manfred Kuchler, whom he threw several punches at and later ripped verbally after being disqualified in the 10th round of his WBO world super middleweight championship fight on Saturday against Robert Stieglitz.

“My emotions got the best of me,” said Gevor. “This has never happened to me before and should never happen in a boxing ring. I’ve apologized to Mr. Kuchler. I shouldn’t have reacted that way. However, I also told him that I still can’t understand why I was disqualified. Robert and I clashed heads, then he clinched and we fell together. There was certainly no foul on my part and I think everybody who has seen the television replays can confirm this. I never headbutted Robert as we laid on the canvas. There are people claiming this, but this is wrong. Nevertheless, I shouldn’t have lost it like I did afterward. I am very sorry,” fightnews.com quoted him as saying.
