US TO PROVIDE ABOUT $276 THOUSAND FOR REALIZATION OF ARMENIAN SPACE PROJECT

US Trade and Development Agency will grant $275 980 for studying the economic expediency of Armenian space project realization. The corresponding agreement was signed today by US ambassador to Armenia John Ordway and director of the Armenian Center for Space Investigation Vahe Gurzadian upon the completion of the 6-th sitting of the Armenian-American working group on economic cooperation. The project aims at the building of an overland satellite station and an ultra-violet telescope in the Armenian Center for Space Investigation. The satellite station to function on commercial basis will be built at the first stage of the program. The second stage provides for working out and setting the ultra-violet telescope allowing creation of a Celestial Atlas of ultra-violet spectrum which will be a significant contribution to contemporary astrophysics.
