The financing of the filed of science cannot be considered satisfactory, according to President of the Armenian Astronomical Society (ArAS).
Areg Mikaelyan believes that it is necessary to increase the volumes of financing of the science so that it may exist. “Presently the salary of the young scientists is AMD 35 000. Even if the sum is increased by 10-20%, it would not be enough,” Mikaelyan said, adding that the wages of the scientists should amount to average salary in Armenia, which is at least AMD 100.000,” he told a press conference in Yerevan.
In turn, Director of the Center for Ecological Noosphere Studies at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Armen Sagatelyan, said that he would not concentrate that much on the financing issues. According to him, during the past years quite important steps have been made to improve the field of science in Armenia.
“One of these steps is the establishment of the National Scientific Committee. Thanks to the activities of the Committee a large number of agreements were concluded, providing us with new resources,” he said.
