GREAT BRITAIN REFUSES TO LABEL ARMENIAN KILLINGS IN 1915 AS GENOCIDE

25.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The controversial killings of Armenians under the Ottoman Empire will not be mentioned in Holocaust Memorial Day, Britain’s junior environment Minister Beverly Hughes said Wednesday.
“The Armenians will definitely not be mentioned on Memorial Day. It will only focus on the Holocaust”, Hughes told reporters during her visit to Istanbul, the Anatolia news agency reported.
She explained that after reviewing evidence relating to the Armenian massacres during 1915 and 1916, the London government had decided that the incidents did not fit onto the UN’s description of genocide. -0-
