CZECH PRESIDENT CALLS TO CONSIDER THE PROBLEM OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE FROM THE HISTORICAL VIEWPOINT

20.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “The problem of the Genocide of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire must be considered from the historical and not the political point of view”, the President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Havel said, answering the question of the Armenian “Orer” journal, published in Prague.
The Czech President also voiced his opinion that all the interested parties must be ready for the experts’ assessment of the historical events. “Despite the fact that the process of realization and assessment of one’s own past is often painful, it is necessary to preserve the moral unity of the nation”, Vaclav Havel noted.
