POSITIVE SHIFT NOTICEABLE IN ANKARA ATTITUDE TO ARMENIAN GENOCIDE, ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER SUPPOSES

A positive shift is noticeable in Ankara’s attitude to the issue of the Armenian Genocide. Today this opinion was expressed by Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian at a conference on all-Armenian issues (Hay Dat) being held in Yerevan. In his words, as reported by “Arka” agency, serious dialogue on the issue takes place within Turkey. “The use of the term “genocide” is not a taboo anymore and the fact that today it is freely spoken about is a positive shift,” – V. Oskanian added. Together with the Armenian diaspora the minister hopes to achieve “serious progress not only in the issue of international acknowledgement of the genocide, but also its recognition by Turkey.” V. Oskanian reported in that respect work was being carried out at three levels – bilateral, multilateral and with Turkey individually.
