VOTE ON ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RESOLUTION WAS TAKEN AT THE INITIATIVE OF FRENCH PARLIAMENT, FRENCH PRESIDENT AND PRIME MINISTER SAID

09.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “France hopes to maintain and develop close co-operation with Turkey in all areas,” a statement issued jointly by both President Jacques Chirac and the Socialist-led government of Prime Minister Lionel Jospin reads.
The statement says that “the vote on the Armenian Genocide resolution was initiated by the parliament … and in no way signifies a judgement on Turkey.” The statement by the French President and Prime Minister says that “France will continue to work to bring Turkey closer to the European Union.” –0–
