DELEGATION OF JAPANESE-ARMENIAN COMMITTEE FOR ECONOMIC COOPERATION HAS VISITED ARMENIA

03.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today the Prime Minister of Armenia Andranik Margarian received the delegation of the Japanese-Armenian commission for economic cooperation, led by Chief Tsutsenobu Miadzaki.
As was reported to Mediamax in the press service of the government of Armenia, Margarian noted the importance of mutual serious preparation for the first joint session of the Japanese-Armenian and Armenian-Japanese committees, to be held in Tokyo in 2001. The Armenian Prime Minister noted that the activity of the committees may become a link between the countries, taking into account that there are no Armenian and Japanese embassies in Tokyo and Yerevan.
The premier noted that thankfully taking humanitarian aid, credits and grants from Japanese government, Armenia at the same time speaks for gradual transition to development programs, encouragement of direct investments of Japanese companies in Armenia, creation of joint ventures. The Premier named high tech, tourism and processing industry among possible cooperation areas.
According to Andranik Margarian, it’s necessary to sign agreements “On avoiding double taxation of income and property” and “On mutual assistance and investment encouragement” as soon as possible to expand the Armenian-Japanese trade cooperation.
The Japanese-Armenian committee on economic cooperation was set up on August 10, 2000.
